Strength and Conditioning

Strength and conditioning (S&C) is the physical preparation of athletes for high level performance – to give them the greatest advantage in national and international competition.

Athletes are individually monitored using a variety of scientifically validated tests and their programs are continuously adjusted to optimise their individual training gains.

S&C coaches provide an integrated, holistic training stimulus that results in optimal performance gains for each athlete - working in close partnership with sport-specific coaches and other sport science disciplines.

There is a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice that incorporates methods and findings from published scientific literature. This leads to highly innovative trialling and implementation of new and 'cutting edge' training methodologies.

All SASI scholarship holders have access to S&C coaching.

S&C coaches have graduate or post-graduate qualifications in sport science and are accredited with the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA).

The SASI S&C Facilities at Kidman Park and Marion are accredited under the National Sport Science Quality Assurance (NSSQA) Program.
