SASI athlete Chris Remkes, who captured the attention of the nation with a stunning gold medal at last year's Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, will aim to back up his gold-winning effort in the vault at last year's world cup.

The Melbourne event will feature qualifying events on February 21 and 22 with the top eight athletes in each category hunting medals on February 23 and 24 in the finals.

Remkes is based at the National Centre of Excellence Canberra.
