DAY 7 - Highlights of all the SA athletes in Rio
Rowing and Cycling add more Silver.
Cycling – Track
It was a busy day on the track for our cyclists, with 7 SASI athletes in action.
Anna Meares and Steph Morton were up first in the Team Sprint and battled hard to finish in 4th place behind Germany.
Matt Glaetzer and Pat Constable (Men’s Sprint) progressed to the Quarter final round. Glaetzer won the First round to progress directly while Constable had to go through the repechage round to progress.
The Men’s Team Pursuit (Alex Edmondson, Jack Bobridge. Callum Scotson) won Silver behind Great Britain in the final despite posting a time under World Record pace.
Rowing
Alex Hill and the Men’s Four won Silver after a strong battle with the favoured Great Britain team
Men’s Basketball
The Boomers (Joe Ingles) returned to the court after their tight loss to the USA to post a comprehensive win over China 93-68 and remain in second position in Group A.
Badminton
Leanne Choo’s (Mixed doubles) lost to Malaysia 0-2 in the second Group game of the event.
Shooting
Dane Sampson was back in action in the Men’s 50m Rifle Prone finishing 31st.
David Chapman finished 26th in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event.
Still to come:
Henry Frayne (Long Jump) will compete at approximately 9:50am local time in the Qualifying round.
