SASI Rowers make final cut for Rio

Four SASI rowers selected to the 2016 Australian Olympic team.

After years of hard training and competition on and off the water, James McRae, Alexander 'Sasha' Belonogoff, Alex Hill and Sally Kehoe can now set their sights firmly on their preparation and performance in Rio. The quartet were officially selected for the Australian Olympic team after strong performances at selection trails and international competitions over the past 18 months.

James and Sasha will team up with rowers from NSW and Victoria to make up the Men's Quad Scull. Their recent performances in World Cup II and III resulted in two Gold medals. James will head into Rio to improve on the Bronze medal won in London while Rio will be Sasha’s first Olympic Games.

Alex Hill won Silver at the 2015 World Championships in the Men's four and the crew finished strongly in the Final at World Cup III with a Bronze medal. The crew will look to go one better than their World Championship result in Rio.

Sally Kehoe has experience on her side after competing in two previous Olympic Games. Sal made the final in both Olympics finishing 6th. In 2014 Sal won a bronze medal at the World Championships with fellow SASI athelte Olympia Aldersey and now with a new partner has finished with a Silver in World Cup II in the Women's double scull.

Olympia Aldersey competed at the final Olympic Qualification Regatta before being named as the Women's Sculling reserve for the Australian Rowing Team.

Good luck to our SASI Rowers as they embark on their final journey on the Road to Rio.
