SA Athletes dominate Beach Volleyball selections

Eight South Australians have been selected to represent Australia in upcoming International Beach Volleyball events

National team selections

Following the recent Asian Beach Volleyball World Championship Qualifier held in Thailand in early March, four SASI athletes and SASI Beach Volleyball Head Coach Michael Nelson have been selected to attend the 2016 Under 21 Beach Volleyball World Championships which will be held in Switzerland in May. Max Guerher, Simon Gray and Mitchell Wakefield have been selected in the Men's teams along with Britt Kendall who has been selected in the Women's team.

Britt has also been selected to play in the Senior Asian Beach Volleyball Championships held in Manly, NSW over the Easter long weekend. SASI athletes Zac Schubert, Chris McHugh and 2012 Olympian Becchara Palmer will also be joining Britt at the Asian Championships.

The event will showcase the best 4 Australian teams from each gender up against the best teams in Asia including China, New Zealand, Japan, Vanuatu, Kazakhstan, Iran and Qatar.

The Asian Beach Volleyball Championships is an important event for the teams to gain valuable points towards their Olympic Qualifying total. Australia is looking to qualify two teams in each gender for Rio 2016.
