Outstanding results over the summer have seen star SASI softballer Belinda White win selection in the Aussie Spirit team to play in the professional Fastpitch league in the US, keeping alive her dream to make this year's Tokyo Olympic Games.

CHAMPION softballer Belinda White has long been an athlete who constantly steps up to the plate in pressure situations.

Last week White again showed her sporting attributes when she was chosen in the Aussie Spirit team to contest the National Professional Fastpitch competition in the US from May.

The team hopes to get valuable experience against tough opponents to prepare for the Tokyo Olympic Games in July/August this year.

Twenty players will head to the US and then the Olympic team of 15 will be selected from there, stacking the odds heavily in White's corner as a catcher.

But White, 31, who plays for club team Sturt Falcons and the SA Starz state team, is not looking any further ahead than the US trip.

"I'm not even thinking that far ahead as plenty can happen between now and then," White said.

"It is good to get to the final cut but there is still plenty to be played out.

"We will have training camps and then playing in our own state-based competitions.

"I'm fit and ready to go and looking forward to what's coming up.''

White is the only South Australian in the Aussie Spirit team. There will be two non-travelling reserves who will be on standby if any injuries occur to the Spirit players in the US.

The Spirit will join five other teams from the United States, Italy, Japan, Canada and Mexico in the battle for Tokyo gold.

Softball has not been played at an Olympic Games since 2008.

There will be no softball at the 2024 Olympics (France).
