SASI athletes on board with Australian teams

Four SASI athletes have been selected on to Australian teams for upcoming world Under-23 and junior championships and the Trans-Tasman Regatta against New Zealand

STRONG results and potential to step up in competition have seen four SASI athletes rewarded with selection on to Australian rowing teams for the coming season.

Angus Dawson was selected on to the Under-23 Australian team in the Men's Coxed Four, while Mitchell Reinhard earned his berth in the Under-23 Lightweight Men's Double Scull.

The Under-23 World Rowing Championship will be held in Sarasota, Florida, between July 24 and 28. Celia Cowan was selected into the Under-21 Women's Lightweight Single Sculls, while Oscar McGuinness will compete in the Trans-Tasman series in the Under-21 men's Lightweight Single Sculls. That series will be held over two legs with the first in Penrith, NSW, between June 27 and 29, while the return contest will be at Lake Karapiro, New Zealand, between August 22 and 24.

SASI Head Coach Rowing Jason Lane was pleased with the SASI athletes and their commitment.

"It was great to see the improvement in the SASI squad this year and to ultimately have four athletes selected was a great result," Lane said.
