SASI stars to take to the blocks at SA swim titles
A new year, with plenty of hard work ahead for SASI's swimming team, will be on show at the State Long Course Championships at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre, between January 19 and 24
SASI's swimming team has the perfect answer to combating South Australia's searing heat when they take to the pool at the State Long Course Championships at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
The titles, from January 19 to 24, will see the squad's mix of senior and rising stars compete. They are Brittany Castelluzzo, Kyle Chalmers, Brittany Elmslie, Travis Mahoney, James McKechnie, Bethan Mounfield, Emilie Muir, Emily White and Madi Wilson.
SASI Head Coach Swimming Peter Bishop said the titles would be a good way to get some valuable conditioning for the athletes.
"The senior guys are coming off a bit of break over Christmas and with selections for the world titles put back to June this year it will take longer to reach their best," Bishop said.
"They will use these titles more as a training block.
"A couple of our younger athletes have just finished Year 12 so they will have more time to go on camps and keep developing. I'm looking forward to the year.''
Most of the SASI squad looks set to attend a training camp in Kuala Lumpur in early February for two weeks.
For the senior athletes there will be plenty of hard training and aiming to peak for the national team's selection competition at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre between June 9 and 14, 2019.
Those selected are expected to compete at the FINA World Swimming Championships in Korea between July 21 and 28, 2019.
