Track Down Under to kickstart a stirring Tour Down Under festival
SASI's champion athletes Steph Morton and Matthew Glaetzer will headline a night of cycling fun and thrills on Friday, January 11, when the inaugural Track Down Under hits the Adelaide Superdrome from 7.30pm
CYCLING and general sports' fans won't have far to travel when the premier Track Down Under is showcased on one night, Friday, January 11, at the Adelaide SuperDrome at Gepps Cross.
The helter-skelter event will provide the perfect appetiser for the following Santos Tour Down Under with the launch for that event held the following day.
On Friday world sprint champion Matthew Glaetzer and Commonwealth Games champ Steph Morton will take on the best competitors from around Australia in the sprint and keirin. The SuperDrome is home of the Cycling Australia's High Performance Program, while the event is the brainchild of TDU Race Director and 1984 Olympic Games gold medallist Mike Turtur.
The night will feature elimination, scratch races and a 1000m Madision Time Trial.
The women's Tour Down Under begins on Thursday, January 10, while the men's opening stage is on Tuesday, January 15.
