SASI leads charge at Para track nationals
SASI again showed its depth and class with outstanding results at the Para-cycling Track National Championships at the Anna Meares Velodrome in Brisbane
SASI's well-earned reputation on the big stage again came to the fore at the recent Para-cycling Track National Championships in Brisbane.
Paige Greco, sporting the SASI world champion rainbow kit, claimed gold in the C3 event in a time of 40.416secs. Fellow world champion, Darren Hicks smashed the C2 individual pursuit (IP), setting a PB and a new national record for the event.
In the Tandem, Rachel and Brad Henderson both took the gold in their respective 1000m races.
Meg Lemon also won gold in the Individual Pursuit 3000m Final.
Greco again was to the fore when she shared the women's Champion of Champions jersey with Bronwyn Dolman.
Greco said it was an honor to wear the champion's jersey.
"It really is exciting to wear and receive the Champion of Champions jersey, it will give me a lot of motivation working towards this December's Brisbane Track World Cup,'' Greco said.
Kieran Murphy with his pilot Lachlan Glasspool took out the individual pursuit 4000m final.
SASI Para-cycling Head Coach Loz Shaw said the SASI athletes again stood out.
"Our athletes again were very professional, fast and strong,'' Shaw said.
"We had several strong results but Meg Lemon, with all of the things she had going on in the past few months, was a big plus - she was really high among our highlights.
"To see Paige and Darren ride in the rainbow colours was really special.
''We sent a strong team, as we always do, and always support these events strongly and put a lot of resources into them.''
Athletes will compete at the same venue between December 13 and 15 at a world cup meeting.
