The SASI team is devastated by the passing of Paralympic cyclist Paige Greco who tragically died on Sunday after experiencing a sudden medical episode.
Paige was one of Australia’s most accomplished para-cyclists and a history-making Paralympian. At the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, she won Australia’s first gold medal of the Games, breaking the world record in the Women’s C1–3 3000m Individual Pursuit. She went on to add bronze medals in the Women’s C1–3 Road Race and Time Trial, cementing her status as a world-class competitor across both track and road disciplines.
Throughout her career, Paige claimed multiple World Championship titles and World Cup medals, including a 2025 World Championship bronze in the Road Race, and consistently helped raise the standard of para-cycling on the international stage. Her relentless work ethic and unwavering positivity made her a role model to teammates and emerging athletes throughout Australia.
Paige was a beloved member of the Australian cycling community who spent time training with the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI), Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) and Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS). In 2019 and 2021 she was awarded SASI Para Athlete of the Year and received the Medal of the Order of Australia for her accomplishments in Tokyo. Beyond her remarkable achievements, Paige will be remembered for her humility, generosity, and the genuine joy she brought to every team environment.
Our deepest condolences go to Paige’s family, friends, coaches, teammates and the cycling community at this time.
