SASI Physiotherapists (3 part time contracts to 30 June 2023 with potential for extension)

SASI is looking for 3 experienced Sports Physiotherapists with an interest in high performance sport. This role requires:

  • Weekly attendance at a range of sport venues to meet with coaches and staff, observe training and provide treatment.
  • Two to three 3-hour treatment sessions per week at SASI Kidman Park.
  • Contribution to a high performing multi-disciplinary support team.
  • Active participation in relevant National Physiotherapy Networks if appropriate.
  • Maintenance of injury records and training availability statistics using AMS.
  • Regular mobility screening and injury prevention interventions in line with best practice for high performance sport.

These positions are planned to support the following sports:

  1. Cycling and Hockey
  2. Beach Volleyball and Netball
  3. Rowing, Paddle (canoe/kayak) and Sailing

SASI SPORTS PHYSIOTHERAPIST CONTRACT OVERVIEW

The SASI Physiotherapist will be a key contributor to the SASI Performance Health Team through provision of technical expertise, sport knowledge and effective communication.

PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the SASI Performance Services Manager, the SASI Physiotherapist will provide physiotherapy services to SASI scholarship holders, aligning closely with performance goals.

The SASI Physiotherapist will work closely with coaches, SASI staff and the SASI Medical Officer. This role may be directed towards specific SASI sport programs or more generally, as required by SASI.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Consistent (fortnightly) attendance in the sport training environment (as required by the coach and directed by SASI Performance Services Manager)
  • Contribute to a high performing multi-disciplinary support team
  • Actively participate in National Physiotherapy Networks as appropriate (eg sport-specific networks) to enable delivery of SASI services that align with best practice in the national system
  • Maintain injury records and training availability statistics using AMS
  • Provide regular screening and injury prevention interventions in line with best practice for high performance sport
  • Join the SASI Performance Health team meetings (monthly)

KEY FUNCTIONS AND PERSON CAPABILITIES

  • Experience in delivery of physiotherapy services in a high performance sport setting
  • Possesses the skills and thorough knowledge of best practice and current trends related to musculoskeletal injury, injury prevention and sport performance
  • Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with other high performance staff
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing an injury prevention program
  • Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and conflict resolution experience with a demonstrated history of building and maintaining collaborative relationships
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the SASI values
  • Actively seeks, reflects and acts on feedback on own performance
  • An understanding of applying an individualised approach when working with athletes from diverse backgrounds or athletes with a disability

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Undergraduate degree in physiotherapy plus APA level 1 and 2 Sports Physiotherapy qualifications
  • Satisfactory relevant history assessment in line with the Child Safety (Prohibited Persons) Act 2016
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Registered as a physiotherapist by AHPRA
  • Maintains consistent professional indemnity insurance with cover >$20million

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-graduate qualifications in Sports or Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
