As a fencing athlete (who is supported by SASI’s Individual Athlete Program), Georgie Barratt is travelling the world to take on competitors from across the globe, most recently coming away with bronze medals from the Commonwealth Fencing Champions 2022 and DH McKenzie Tournament 2023.

Tayla Williams has been flying high in her sporting career, playing for the Adelaide Thunderbirds since 2020.
The SASI graduate has also been doing stellar work off the court, recently completing a double degree in Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science, and Bachelor of Nutrition and Food Sciences. In addition to this, she’s currently completing her Sports Nutrition accreditation.

Nicholas Blackman has big dreams for his rowing career where he’d ultimately like to represent Australia at the Olympics. In the months ahead, he’s working towards achieving success in the men’s coxless quad at the Under 23 World Rowing Championships in Bulgaria.

Olivia Sandery has taken significant steps in her race walking career in the past two years, particularly in 2022 where she has smashed her PBs on the track and road for distances from 5000m to 10km walk. After an impressive progression to the senior ranks, she’s now got her sights set on racing at the World Athletics Championships having met the qualifying standard for the 20km distance.

SASI's hypoxic chamber and tent simulate altitude by reducing the percentage of oxygen in the air for training purposes. This helps the athletes prepare for competing at higher altitudes and/or stimulates physiological adaptations that translate to a better performance at sea level.
