Alex Murphy

Alex Murphy has been SASI Water Polo coach since May 2013. Prior to that Alex coached the Water Polo SA high performance squad, which is the feeder program for SASI.

After a successful playing career in England where Alex was a member of the Great Briton senior men's High Performance squad in Manchester. Alex then moved over to SA in 2010, where he continued to play national league for the FYFE Adelaide Jets as well as taking on a role as player/positional coach within the SASI program.

Alex has then continued to move through the WPSA coaching pathway, coaching U16/18/20 state team's more recently setting up WPSA's new High Performance program. The success of this program was evident in the recent U20's Nationals where Alex lead the SA boys to a Bronze medal, there first medal in over 10 years.

Alex's coaching philosophy is to create with in the athletes a passion and enthusiasm for water polo, then use their passion and enthusiasm to create a training environment where key fundamentals are taught to a high standard, with in a hardworking, challenging and positive training environment, in order to help the athletes become the best player they can be.
